The island of Paros in the Cyclades, with its beautiful beaches and stable winds is well-known as one of the world's most premier spots for kiteboarding. Though a relatively new sport, kiteboarding has recently grown tremendously in popularity, with lovers of extreme sports enjoying the thrills of the sport that is such an ideal combination of windsurfing, wakeboarding, surfing and paragliding all in one.
Paros is not only home to the perfect combination of beaches and winds, but also is now known for several officially sanctioned International Kiteboard Organization (IKO) sanctioned instructional centers, offer expert instruction to beginners and experienced kiteboarders. Paros has also been home to numerous international kiteboarding competitions, including the Kiteboarding World Cup, first held on Pounda Beach in 2006.
Though there are numerous popular Paros beaches for kiteboarding, Pounda Beach is the most well-known location for kiteboarding on Paros. Pounda Beach is a long, sandy beach facing nearby Antiparos and just 5 minutes drive from Marili Studios.
